Patient Responsibilities

A patient and her/ his attendants have the responsibility to:

  1. Address any concern that the patient may have.
  2. Provide complete and accurate information including full name, address and other information.
  3. Provide complete and accurate history and information about your health, including present condition, past illnesses, hospitalizations, medications or any other matter that pertains to your health.
  4. Follow the prescribed treatment plan carefully.
  5. Follow all the instructions given and attend follow-up appointments as requested.
  6. Ask questions when you do not understand any details given by doctor or other members of the healthcare team. Inform the doctor if you anticipate any problem in the prescribed treatment or are considering alternative therapies.
  7. Accept the responsibility of decisions that you made regarding your treatment.
  8. Abide by all hospital rules and regulations such as strictly following the NO SMOKING policy within the hospital campus.
  9. Ensure that all your visitors follow the visitor timing and policies.
  10. Be considerate of noise levels along with privacy & safety of other patients and staff.
  11. Weapons are strongly prohibited within the premise.
  12. Treat hospital staff, other patients and visitors with courtesy and respect.
  13. Be on time for appointments. Give advance notice of the cancellation or rescheduling appointments when required.
  14. Do not take any medications on your own without the knowledge of your doctor and healthcare professionals.
  15. Inform the doctor if your condition gets worse or does not improve as planned.
  16. Do not give medication prescribed for you to others.
  17. Provide complete and accurate information for insurance claims; work with the hospital for processing claims and make payments, if the claim is denied.
  18. Pay for services billed for in a timely manner as per the hospital rules and seek clarification about the same if there is any concern.
  19. Be aware that the estimations given are approximate and are likely to change should the treatment plan, duration of treatment/stay or category of bed change.
  20. Respect situations when the medical condition of another patient may become more urgent. Respect the doctor`s ability to judge and accept the fact that he/ she may need to attend the other patient first.
